Charity Event: Giving Back to Our Community June 2021

by BlvdHome

One of our core values here at Boulevard Home is “Community Contribution”, meaning that we care about the welfare of our community and the people who live here. During our Appliance Month (6/7/21-6/26/21), we want to give back to our communities! We have chosen 7 local charities that have incredible values and important missions: Utah Food Bank, Tan’s Treats, RSQ Dogs, Happy Factory, Iron County Care & Share, Virgin Valley Food Bank, and We Care for Animals. Anytime you shop with us from June 7th- June 26th you can save $50.00 when you donate $25.00 to one of these local charities! Let’s learn about what these wonderful charities do, who they serve, and how you can help!

St. George

Utah Food Bank

Utah Food Bank was founded in 1904 in hopes to fight hunger statewide. “Utah Food Bank strives, through its work and its resources, to reduce the toll that hunger and poverty takes on so many children and adults throughout our state”-Utah Food Bank. The Utah Food Bank’s mission is simple: to feed those who suffer from hunger. Last year they distributed 44.1 million meals statewide! While they serve anyone in need, they take a special interest in children and seniors (the most vulnerable populations). We love their purpose and goals!

Tan’s Treats

Thousands of children are fed by school breakfasts and lunches but are left hungry when they go home for the weekend. Tan’s Treats’ mission is to provide children with easy to prepare food so they won’t go hungry when they get home from school. Here’s their origin story: “When Tanner was in elementary school his Mom noticed that he was coming home from school starving. When she approached him about it she learned that he had been giving his lunch to a boy in his class that didn’t have lunch. For the rest of that year, Tanner took two lunches to school, one for himself and one for his friend.” After Tanner passed away, his family wanted to continue his legacy. In honor of him, Tan’s Treats was founded. We are proud to be partnering with them!

RSQ Dogs

RSQ Dogs does everything from rescue animals, to veterinary care, to adoption. They aren’t just in the dog business; they care for cats, goats, pigs, rabbits, and more! They are a Utah non-profit, all-volunteer group that does so much good for homeless, orphaned, and abused animals in rural Utah. We love their motto, “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something”, and that’s what we plan to do! We can’t wait to give back to this awesome charity!

Cedar City

The Happy Factory

This group’s purpose is as heartwarming as it is influential. Charles and Donna Cooley recognized a need that wasn’t being addressed on a large scale: many children in the world don’t have toys! Toys are so important in a child’s life and can make a huge difference in their childhood. The Cooley’s started by simply making small wooden, animal cutouts. They became increasingly popular and have now shipped more than 1,600,000 toys worldwide! We are so glad we have the opportunity the partner with them!

Iron County Care & Share

The Iron County Care & Share provides resources to people and families who struggle with homelessness and hunger and teach skills that lead to self-sufficiency. Thanks to their awesome employees and incredible volunteers, they have been able to accomplish very difficult tasks and provide better living conditions for so many in need. They offer many programs and services, including emergency shelter, clean showers (which is something most of us take for granted), warm meals, employment search assistance, budgeting counseling, and so much more! We are proud to be partnering with this amazing charity.

Mesquite

Virgin Valley Food Bank

Feeding those in need is something many of us overlook. A warm meal can go a long way. Virgin Valley Food Bank strives to help as many hungry people, families, and children as they can. They run a thrift store to help with the expenses of the charity. This thrift store is also a great resource for low-income families to buy inexpensive clothing, home goods, and furniture. This small charity is making a big difference for so many people. We are so happy we can help support their purpose!

We Care for Animals

We Care for Animals is a foster-based rescue. While they do not have a facility, their foster families do an incredible job of getting these rescue animals healthy and ready to adopt. They also “provide low-cost or free spay and neuter for pets of qualified pet owners”. Their goal is to help homeless pets find great homes where they will be well cared for and loved. We are more than excited to partner with this awesome charity!
