Stressless Recliner Buyer Guide

by BlvdHome

If you’re looking to buy a Stressless recliner, you need to read this guide first! We will go over everything you need to know about Stressless by Ekornes. From colors to sizing, we’ve got the facts. We’ll take you through the designing process to help you find the perfect Stressless recliner for you! Before you decide, watch our video to see Stressless recliners in action. Now let’s find you a perfect recliner!

Models

First, choose your model! See all the models here. Stressless has so many recliner models it can be overwhelming to choose. Thankfully, they all offer the same level of comfort. The various models are mainly for aesthetic purposes. Some models do offer electric reclining, balance adapt, plus system, and glide system. Electric reclining uses a button instead of your body to push the chair into a reclining position. Balance adapt adjusts the movement using rocking. Plus system automatically adjusts the lumbar support and headrest when you recline. Chairs with the glide system read your body’s shape and weight to recline to the perfect spot naturally.

After you’ve chosen what features you want, all you have to do is choose what matches your style! But if you’re unsure, some of our favorite models are the Mayfair, the Wing, and the Reno.

Sizes

Ekornes was the first company to recognize the need for different sizes of recliners. They knew not everyone was the size so your recliner shouldn’t be either. The stressless recliner comes in 3 sizes: small, medium, and large. These sizes are determined by width, height, and depth. This is an important factor to be aware of before buying, especially if you are shopping online. You may want to try out the different sizes to see which one fits you the best.

Colors

Here comes the fun part: picking your color! There are so many colors to choose from. From black to white, red to blue, and everything in between. You can even choose the base color! Some popular base color options are oak, teak, and walnuts.

Additional Customization

There are two options for footstools. There is a single-leg base footstool and a double-leg base footstool. There is also the option to have a power leg rest instead of a footstool. They all perform the same functions so the different styles are just for aesthetic purposes. The chairs also have different bases. There is star base, classic power leg, classic (double-leg base), alu leg, signature (single-leg base), and disc. Again, these are all for aesthetic purposes, besides the class power leg, which has a power left lift.

Some chairs have the option to add an adjustable headrest. All recliner headrests automatically adjust forward and backward, but you can get another type of headrest that moves up and down. This is great if you have a longer torso or like your headrest taller.

Stressless only uses top-grain leather, but you do have a choice of which kind you’d like. There is Pioneer (smooth, little to no texture), Noblesse (texture, requires regular maintenance), Cori (textured, structure), Paloma (very soft and comfortable), and Batick (extra textured, easy to clean). We all enjoy different textures so this is a great option to have!

Price

Recliners start at $1,400 and go up to around $5,000. Fortunately, Stressless offers rebates from time to time. The more features and customizations you add to your chair, the higher the price will be. Price can also be influenced by the size of chair you choose. While the cost can be a turn-off for some Stressless shoppers, it is outweighed by the comfort and longevity. With proper care, Stressless recliners can last upwards of 20 years! Plus, you’ll never regret investing in your comfort. Read why we think Stressless recliners are worth the price here.

Comfort

If you’re on the fence about buying, here’s something to tip the scales; Stressless recliners are known for their comfort. Ekornes offers what they call, “The ultimate comfort experience”. These chairs are so uniquely crafted. They move using a glide system, which helps the chair conform to your body when you sit. When you lay back, you can choose to have your headrest stay upright (helpful when watching TV, reading a book, or talking with someone) or have it lay flat (perfect for taking naps). Stressless recliners are the only recliners that are endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association.

Sustainability

100% of the power supplied to their Norway factories comes from hydropower. They use the highest quality materials they can which extends the life of their products. Products with longer lives stay out of landfills and fewer products have to be made. The surplus/extra wood is regenerated into heating for their factory. Surplus heating is used for district heating for surrounding homes! They use recycled materials for packaging and use leftover foam for armrests and footrests.

Now that you’ve designed your dream recliner, what stress-less activities will you be trying out in your Stressless recliner?
